Wrigley Field construction update: January 12

At last, we see what the left-field corner is going to look like.

It snowed Saturday in Chicago, the first snowfall there in several weeks. Nevertheless, BCB’s David Sameshima visited Wrigley Field and found some real progress in the construction project, especially in left field.

I was able to make a late Saturday afternoon visit to Wrigley, during the mild snowstorm that hit the north side of Chicago.

As I expected, much of the construction work was shrouded with plastic tarps. It’s been a few weeks since I have able to visit, so I was still curious with the state of the construction work.

First off, for those Wrigleyville Taco Bell fans, the building is still standing. For some reason, I know people keep asking about it.

The key change I saw was that they do appear to be adding seats in the left field corner, similar to what they are doing in right field. From the arrangement of the steel beams in place, the new seats do not appear to connect to the bleachers. They appear to be an addition to the grandstands.
