Minor League Wrap: Vosler walks it off for the Smokies

Jason Vosler sends the Smokies faithful home happy. South Bend and Myrtle Beach are going in opposite directions.

It’s Friday the 13th and things are looking pretty cursed in Myrtle Beach.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs were smoked by the Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals), 9-3.

Starter Luke Farrell followed up his terrific season debut with a stinker of a game, giving up seven runs on ten hits over five innings. Farrell struck out five and walked one.

Shortstop Mike Freeman was 2 for 3 with a walk. He scored once and drove in one runner.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies accepted the surrender of the Jackson Generals (Diamondbacks), 6-5 in 11 innings.

Good start for Thomas Hatch, who threw five scoreless innings tonight. Hatch allowed three hits and he walked two. Hatch struck out three.

Craig Brooks pitched the seventh inning and turned a 3-0 Tennessee lead into a 4-3 Generals lead. Brooks just pitched that one inning and gave up three hits, hit one batter and walked one batter. He struck out one.
