Minor League Wrap: Thompson, Short and Stinnett one-hit Lookouts

Some amazing pitching performances tonight.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs game was suspended by rain with Iowa trailing Memphis 3-1 after four innings.

Eddie Butler pitched the first inning of this game in a rehab appearance. He gave up three runs on two hits, including a triple and a two-run home run. He also walked one batter and struck out two Redbirds.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies blinded the Chattanooga Lookouts (Twins), 2-0.

Keegan Thompson, Wyatt Short and Jake Stinnett combined for a one-hit shutout of the Lookouts.

Thompson started and allowed a one-out single in the sixth inning. Thompson pitched 6.1 innings and walked two and struck out seven for his first Double-A win.

Short entered the game after Thompson walked a batter (and reached 93 pitches) in the seventh inning. He induced a double play and then retired the side in order. Four batters, five outs. He did not strike anyone out.

Stinnett tossed a perfect ninth for the save, striking out two.
