The Iowa Cubs were drenched by the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals), 7-2.
Kyle Ryan turned in another good performance, allowing just one run on four hits over five innings. Ryan struck out four and walked no one. The run came on a second-inning home run was only the second run that Ryan has allowed in 18.1 innings this month.
James Norwood relieved Ryan and took the loss. Norwood allowed a run on a hit and two walks in one inning. Norwood did not have a strikeout.
Brian Duensing‘s rehab appearance did not go well as he was unable to finish the seventh inning. Duensing allowed three runs on three hits over two-thirds of an inning. He did not strike out or walk anyone.
Iowa had three hits today. Shortstop Mike Freeman went 1 for 3 with an RBI double and a walk.
The Tennessee Smokies were cooked by the Montgomery Biscuits (Rays), 3-1.
Thomas Hatch started and took the loss. Hatch allowed three runs on five hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out four, walked one and hit one batter.
First baseman Vimael Machin hit an RBI double in the fourth inning. He was 1 for 4.
