The system went winless in three attempts tonight.
Travel day. They tried to make them go to Reno, so they said “sure, sure, sure.”
The Tennessee Smokies were beaten by the Birmingham Barons (White Sox), 11-10 in 11 innings.
Starter Matt Swarmer only went three innings, but that was because of a long rain delay and not because of his performance or an injury. Swarmer pitched three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits. He struck out three and did not walk anyone.
Jordan Minch gave up four runs in the top of the 11th inning and almost got the win when the Smokies scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and had the bases loaded with two out. But a Jason Vosler ground out ended the game. Instead, he got the loss. Vosler was 2 for 6 with a double and a walk. He scored once.
I really don’t think pitching stats under these new extra-innings rules should count, but for the record, the line on Minch was four runs, three earned, on three hits over 1.1 innings. Minch struck out two and didn’t walk anyone.
