The Pelicans win in a walkoff. South Bend is no-hit
Not a good day for the Cubs farm system, but the Pelicans pulled one out late.
The Iowa Cubs were drenched by the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals), 7-4 in a game that ended in the top of the ninth because of rain.
Duane Underwood Jr. had his worst start of the year as his record fell to 0-3. Underwood gave up a home run to Adalberto Mondesi, the first batter of the game. He didn’t make it out of the third inning and his final line was six runs on seven hits over 2.2 innings. Underwood struck out two and did not walk anyone, but he did hit one batter.
First baseman Efren Navarro had a good game, going 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI.
Off day. They start a five-game series against Birmingham at home on Wednesday.
