The Pelicans continue to turn their season around. The rest of the system struggles.
Congratulations to Smokies outfielder Jeffrey Baez, who is your choice for the BCB Minor League Player of the Month!
You still have time to vote for the Pitcher of the Month Award. I’ll announce the winner of that vote tomorrow.
The Iowa Cubs came all the way back from a 7-0 deficit, only to lose to the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals), 8-7 in ten innings.
Starter Jen-Ho Tseng put the I-Cubs in that big hole with a six-run third inning where the first six batters of the inning all reached. The final line on Tseng was seven runs on seven hits over three innings. One of those seven hits was a grand slam by Paulo Orlando. Tseng walked five, hit one batter and struck out five.
After that, Alberto Baldonado gave the the I-Cubs the chance to get back in the game with three scoreless innings, giving up just one hit. Baldonado struck out four and did not walk anyone.
