After winning his second Carolina League Pitcher of the Week award this week, Keegan Thompson was promoted to Double-A Tennessee.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs lost their seventh-straight game, 5-0 to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers).

Jen-Ho Tseng had his best start in almost a month, but he took the loss anyway as Iowa failed to score any runs. Tseng allowed two runs on three hits over five innings. He struck out five and walked three, although one of those walks was intentional.

First baseman Victor Caratini was 3 for 4 with a double.

Third baseman Ryan Court was activated off the disabled list and went 2 for 4 with a double.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies caught the Mobile BayBears (Angels) napping, 4-2.

Michael Rucker got his sixth win after he surrendered just one run on four hits over six innings. The one run came on a home run to lead off the sixth inning. Rucker struck out three and walked one.
