Iowa wins in extra innings. Everyone else loses.
I didn’t know this was a thing until today, but if you’re interested in Iowa Cubs‘ Michael Roth and Taylor Davis discussing stuff, here’s their video. It’s really just two minor league ballplayers shooting the breeze.
The Iowa Cubs stopped the Omaha Storm Chasers (Royals), 4-3 in 11 innings.
It was a terrific start for Luke Farrell, who allowed just one hit and no runs over five innings. He struck out five and walked two.
Omaha tied up the game with three runs in the eighth inning off of Alberto Baldonado, including a home run by Paulo Orlando that no one at the park other than the two umpires thought was a fair ball. (Even Orlando was chuckling as he went around the bases.) But Baldonado did give up the other two runs after the disputed home run.
Cory Mazzoni got the honor of pitching both extra innings and he got the win by not allowing a run in either inning, even with a runner starting both innings on second base. Mazzoni only issued one intentional walk as the only baserunner he …Read the Rest
