Minor League Wrap: I-Cubs top New Orleans

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs frosted the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Marlins), 3-1.

Starting pitcher Alec Mills gave up just one run on five hits over 6.2 innings. Mills walked two and struck out three.

The win went to Alberto Baldonado, who took over for Mills after he walked a batter with two out in the seventh. Baldonado gave up no runs on one hit over 1.1 innings. He neither walked nor struck anyone out.

Second baseman Ryan Court singled home catcher Ali Solis with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the I-Cubs a lead. Court extended his hitting streak to 17 games after going 3 for 4. He also singled home the first run of the game in the fifth for two total RBI.

Solis went 2 for 2.

Center fielder Jacob Hannemann went 3 for 4 and singled home the other run of the game in the eighth. Hannemann also scored one run and stole one base.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies were swept by the Biloxi Shuckers (Brewers), 7-5.
