Minor League Wrap: Hatch goes the distance in Smokies game 1 win

The Pelicans win and the Smokies split behind a complete game by Thomas Hatch.

We seriously need to start considering whether or not stats generated in Colorado Springs should actually count on a player’s season totals. Although since there won’t be a Colorado Springs minor league team next season, it’s probably too much arguing over something that won’t be an issue in 2019.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs got blasted by the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Brewers), 10-3.

Kyle Ryan threw the first three innings for the I-Cubs and he allowed six runs on five hits, and two of them were home runs. Ryan struck out seven and walked two.

Catcher Victor Caratini was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI.

Right fielder Mark Zagunis was 2 for 3 with a walk. He scored once and had one run batted in.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies split a doubleheader with the Mobile BayBears (Angels), winning game 1 9-1 and losing the second match 4-2. So they win the series based on aggregate goals. (Not really.)
