Iowa and South Bend both split doubleheaders. The Smokies lost.
Adbert Alzolay started game one and he did not have a good outing, allowing five runs on a pair of two-run home runs and a solo home run. He allowed nine hits total over his 4.2 innings. Alzolay struck out two and walked one.
Rob Zastryzny then allowed six runs in his one inning of work, which is less than ideal.
Left fielder Stephen Bruno was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored one run and had one run batted in.
Shortstop Mike Freeman was 2 for 4 with a double and one run scored in game one.
Jen-Ho Tseng started game two and he got the win, although not without allowing four runs on six hits over 5.1 innings. He walked two and struck out three.
Anthony Bass threw the final 1.2 innings and got his second save. Bass allowed two hits and a walk, but no runs. He did not strike anyone out.
