The Iowa Cubs stopped the Round Rock Express (Rangers), 7-3.
Adbert Alzolay was pretty solid for the first four scoreless innings, but he got in trouble in the fifth and couldn’t finish the inning. The final line on Alzolay was three runs on eight hits over 4.2 innings. Alzolay struck out three and walked one.
Rob Zastryzny put down the uprising in the fifth inning and was awarded the win because Alzolay didn’t go five innings. Zastryzny pitched 1.2 innings and gave up just one hit and no runs. He walked one and did not have a strikeout.
The I-Cub scored four runs in the third inning, punctuated by a two-run home run by David Bote. Bote was 2 for 4 with a walk tonight and he scored twice. The home run was his fourth this season.
