The Pelicans snap their losing streak. Iowa tops New Orleans.
The Iowa Cubs scolded the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Marlins), 4-2.
Trevor Clifton had a strong start tonight and picked up his third Iowa win. He gave up just one run on two hits over 5.2 innings. Clifton struck out five, walked one and hit one batter.
Dillon Maples came on for the save in the ninth inning and no one who knows Maples should be surprised by his performance. He faced five batters. Two of them he walked. The other three he struck out.
By striking out the side with two walks for his 9th save of the year tonight, @IowaCubs RHP Dillon Maples has now gone 23 consecutive outings without giving up an earned run for the I-Cubs. 67 strikeouts in 35.2 IP this year, which is good for 16.9 K/9.
