Chicago Cubs vs. Cincinnati Reds preview, Friday 9/14, 7:05 CT

The homestand continues after a 22-hour interruption to win a game in Washington.

The Pedro Strop news is here.

Despite all the Cubs’ troubles, here’s where they rank in the National League entering tonight’s action:

Runs: third (six behind the first-ranking Dodgers)
BA: first
OBP: first
OPS: third (eight points behind the first-ranking Dodgers)
ERA: fourth
ERA+: second (one behind the first-ranking Diamondbacks)
Relief ERA: first

That’s still a pretty, pretty good team. For all the injuries and mediocre performances by some, the 2018 Cubs still have the best record in the N.L. and enter Friday with a 99.9 percent chance of making the postseason and a 76.8 percent chance of winning the N.L. Central, per Fangraphs.

I’ll take those odds. Now go out there and beat the Reds tonight.

Here are today’s particulars.
