The weather will be better than the last time the Braves were in town.
You surely remember the Cubs’ amazing comeback win April 14 against the Braves at Wrigley; if not, here’s the game recap of them overcoming an eight-run deficit on what was described by almost everyone (including me) as the worst weather they’d ever seen a full game played in. The weather wasn’t any better the next day, which is why we’re having this makeup game on a Monday afternoon.
It will be nicer this afternoon at Wrigley Field with temperatures in the 60s. It’s rained much of the morning in Chicago, but this weather forecast has more storms holding off until evening. They really have to get this game in, because the teams don’t really have any more suitable common off days.
This is an unusual situation, playing a makeup game against a team at Wrigley and then a series against the same team in their home city. I wouldn’t swear to it, but I can’t recall this happening before, not in my memory, at least.
Here are today’s particulars.
