Just a win for Iowa.
South Bend’s Ian Rice was named Midwest League Player of the Week. Rice hit .471 with a .550 OBP and 3 home runs last week.
The Iowa Cubs put down the Oklahoma City Dodgers, 11-6. It was Iowa’s fifth-straight win after having lost 10 of the previous 11 games.
It was a comfortable win for Alex Sanabia, his first in the Cubs organization. Sanabia allowed three runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out two and walked two.
First baseman Dan Vogelbach was the star today with an RBI single in the top of the first and a solo home run in the third, his eighth of the season. Vogelbach was 3 for 4 with a walk.
Catcher Willson Contreras went 2 for 5 with a walk and a two-run triple in the sixth inning. Contreras had three total RBI and he scored once.
