Chicago Cubs Minor League Wrap: May 12

A sweep the wrong way tonight.

After a week of mostly good news down on the farm, there wasn’t much tonight.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs were run over by the Round Rock Express (Rangers), 4-2.

Luke Farrell started and took the loss. Farrell pitched three innings and allowed three runs on two hits and two walks. He also hit one batter. Farrell struck out two.

Alberto Baldonado had three scoreless innings of relief and Brad Markey gave up just one run in the three innings he pitched.

Center fielder Jacob Hannemann was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He doubled to lead off the bottom of the ninth and then went to third and then scored on two wild pitches.

Third baseman Ryan Court was 2 for 4 with a double. Right fielder Bijan Rademacher was 2 for 4.

Tennessee Smokies

The Tennessee Smokies couldn’t hide from the Chattanooga Lookouts (Twins), 9-6.

Trevor Clifton allowed five runs on seven hits over the first five innings. However, only two of the five runs were earned. Clifton struck out three and only walked one, although he did hit two batters.
