Chicago Cubs Minor League Wrap: August 7

Light schedule, but only Cubs 2 won in Arizona.

Congratulations to Ryan Court, your selection for the Cubs BCB Minor League Player of the Month. Court definitely deserved the award with a 20-game hitting streak and a .465 on-base percentage for the month.

You still have time to vote for the Minor League Pitcher of the Month.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs were abducted (for the final time) by the Las Vegas 51s (Mets), 9-6.

Jen-Ho Tseng had a rough start, giving up one run in the first inning, three in the second and two in the third. The final line on Tseng was six runs on seven hits in three innings. He walked three and struck out just one.

Anthony Bass threw a perfect inning in a rehab assignment, striking out one.

First baseman Chris Coghlan had a huge day, going 4 for 5 with two doubles. Coghlan scored twice and had one run batted in.

Second baseman Stephen Bruno was 2 for 5 with a double. (That’s half a Coghlan). Bruno also scored twice and had one RBI.

The 51s are changing their name next season, so I won’t be able to make alien abduction references anymore. …Read the Rest
